Takeoff Items

A takeoff item is one thing you take off from the drawings, such as Duplex receptacles, 3/4" EMT or Office floor area. You mark it on the sheets in the takeoff viewer. The Takeoff items page of a project gives the total of each item over every sheet, and its quantity per location.

What you see depends on your role. If the menu, a button or a setting on this page is missing, ask your administrator to give you the permission listed above or to turn on the feature. Only administrators can turn features on and change site settings.

Read the quantities

Each row shows the item, how it is measured, its total, and the number of sheets that have its marks. Below the total, the row gives the quantity per location of the sheets, such as Level 1: 29.70 LF. Set the location of each sheet in the viewer.

Measured asUnitWhat each mark adds
CountEach (EA)1 for each click
LengthLinear feet (LF)The length of the run, plus its drops
AreaSquare feet (SF)The area inside the outline

Quantities are rounded to hundredths. A length or area on a sheet that has no scale is not in the total, and the row tells you how many marks need a scale. Calibrate those sheets to count them.

The Takeoff card on the project page shows how many items the project has, and how many of them have marks.

Add a takeoff item

  1. Click Add takeoff item.
  2. Fill in the fields, and click Save.

  • To change an item, click its name or Edit.
  • To delete an item, click Delete and confirm. Its marks on every sheet are deleted too.

When you delete a sheet, its marks are deleted. When you delete a project, its takeoff items and marks are deleted. When you Split again a document, the marks of each page stay on its sheet.

Price the quantities

To price a takeoff item, add estimate lines from it: in the estimate workspace, click Add from takeoff. The lines keep the quantity of the item up to date when you click Update from takeoff.
