New Bid Wizard

The New Bid wizard is the quick way to record a new bid invitation. In three steps, it adds the project, its first bid and the bid/no-bid checklist of that bid.

Can't find it?

What you see depends on your role. If the menu, a button or a setting on this page is missing, ask your administrator to give you the permission listed above or to turn on the feature. Only administrators can turn features on and change site settings.

Use the wizard

  1. Open Estimator > New bid, or click New bid on the Projects page.
  2. Project: type the Name of the project and check the Project number and the Time zone. Fill in the other fields if you know them. Click Next.
  3. Bid: type who the bid goes to in Bid to, and the Due date and time. Fill in the contact, the Bid type, Bid bond required and Prevailing wage. Click Next.
  4. Bid/no-bid: rate the points of the checklist, then pick the Bid decision and write why. Click Add the project and bid.

The project page opens, with the new bid under Bids. The project is in the Bidding status and the bid is a Draft. You are the estimate lead of the project.

The fields are the same as on the project form and the bid form. See Projects and Bids.

Go back, stop and come back

  • To change an earlier step, click its name at the top of the page, or click Previous.
  • You can leave the wizard at any time. When you open Estimator > New bid again, the wizard opens where you stopped, with the steps you saved.
  • To throw away the steps you saved and begin again, click Start over.

You have one New Bid in progress at a time. When you finish it, the next New bid starts empty.

What the wizard does not ask

The wizard asks only what a new bid needs. After you finish, open the project and click Edit project to add the site address and the team. To bid the same project to another general contractor, click Add bid on the project page.
