Labor Rates and Crews
A rate table holds the hourly wage of each labor classification, such as journeyman or apprentice, and the costs added to it: payroll taxes, insurance, workers' compensation and fringe benefits. A crew is a mix of classifications, such as one foreman, three journeymen and two apprentices. Its composite rate is the cost of one labor hour of the crew.

The Estimator sample catalog recipe adds two fictional rate tables (open shop and prevailing wage) and three crews.
Rate tables
The list shows each table with the loaded rate of each classification. The Default table is the one new job conditions start from.
Add or change a rate table
- Click Add rate table, or the name of a table.
- Enter the Name, and the Overtime multiplier, such as 1.5 for time and a half.
- Select The default rate table to make it the default; the other tables stop being the default. Select Prevailing wages for a table of wages a government sets for public jobs.
- Add the burdens of every classification: each has a name, and a value as % of the wage (such as payroll taxes at 7.65%) or per hour (such as a training fund at $0.75).
- Add the classifications: the Wage per hour, the Workers' comp (%) of the classification, and its Fringe per hour.
- Click Save.
The Loaded rate of each classification is its wage, plus every percentage of the wage, plus every amount per hour. For example, a $42.00 wage with 18.85% of burdens and workers' compensation, and $9.00 of fringe, costs $58.92 an hour.
Deleting a table does not change the job conditions that used it: they keep the rate they had.
Crews
The list shows each crew with its members and its composite rate in the default rate table.
Add or change a crew
- Click Add crew, or the name of a crew.
- Enter the Name.
- Add the members: a Classification, as the rate tables name it, and the Count, such as 3 journeymen.
- Click Save.
The edit page shows the composite rate of the crew in each rate table: the loaded rates of its members, weighted by their counts. A table that does not have a classification of the crew shows which one is missing.
