Job Conditions Wizard

The job conditions wizard asks about the job, one step at a time: the building and the site, the schedule, and the working conditions. Each answer is a labor factor. Then you pick the rate table and the crew, and the share of overtime. Together they give the labor factor and the labor rate of the project.

Answer the job conditions

  1. Open the project, and click Answer the job conditions in the Job conditions card.
  2. On each step, pick the answer to each question. Each choice shows its factor, such as 15 to 20 ft (× 1.10). Click Next.
  3. On the Labor rate step:
    • pick the Rate table; the default table is picked for you, and a prevailing-wage table is marked;
    • pick the Crew; each crew shows its composite rate in the table;
    • enter the Overtime as a share of the hours, such as 10 for 10% of the hours at the overtime multiplier of the table.
  4. Click Save the job conditions.

You can stop and come back: the wizard keeps your answers until you save or cancel. Click a finished step in the list at the top to go back to it.

Read the job conditions

The Job conditions card of the project shows:

ValueMeaning
Labor factorThe product of the factors that apply to the whole estimate, such as × 1.548. The labor hours of the estimate are multiplied by it.
Labor rateThe composite rate of the crew in the rate table, with the overtime: the cost of one labor hour.
Crew, Rate table, OvertimeYour answers on the labor rate step.

The list below gives each answer with its factor. A factor that applies to a labor category, such as Occupied building for rough-in, is listed with its category: it changes only the hours of that category, not the labor factor.

The card keeps the values the answers had when you saved them. A later change to the factor library, the rate table or the crew does not change them until you answer the job conditions again.

Change the job conditions

Click Change the job conditions. The wizard starts from your earlier answers; change what you need and save again.
