Roles
A role is a set of permissions. You give each user one or more roles, and the user may do what any of their roles allows. The Estimator – Electrical setup recipe adds three roles:
| Role | For | May |
|---|---|---|
| Estimator | The people who price bids | See and change the projects they lead or are on the team of, with their bids, estimates and proposals; see the catalog; run the estimating reports |
| Estimating manager | The chief estimator or the estimating manager | See and change every project; approve estimate revisions; submit a revision with blocking issues, with a reason; keep the estimate templates, the check settings, the proposal clauses and the letterhead; build their own reports; read the API documentation |
| Catalog administrator | The person who keeps the catalog | Keep the catalog items, prices, labor units, assemblies, labor rates, crews and factors; import price files and other exports with data pipelines; upload files to the media library |
The Administrator role may do everything.
| Menu | Access Control > Users to give roles; Access Control > Roles to change what a role may do |
| Permission | Manage users and Manage roles |
| Feature | Roles |
Can't find it?
What you see depends on your role. If the menu, a button or a setting on this page is missing, ask your administrator to give you the permission listed above or to turn on the feature. Only administrators can turn features on and change site settings.

A user who may manage only their own projects sees the projects they lead or are on the team of, everywhere: in the lists, the reports and the API. To see every project, a user needs View all projects and bids.
