Catalog
The catalog holds the items you estimate with, such as 3/4" EMT conduit or a duplex receptacle. For each item it keeps what it is, how it is counted and priced, the history of its prices, and the hours to install it.
| Menu | Estimator > Catalog |
| Permission | View the catalog and prices, to see it. Manage catalog items, to add, change and delete items. Manage labor units, to change their hours |
| Feature | Estimator Catalog |
What you see depends on your role. If the menu, a button or a setting on this page is missing, ask your administrator to give you the permission listed above or to turn on the feature. Only administrators can turn features on and change site settings.
Find an item
The list is in item number order. Each row shows the item number and description, the unit, the price in effect today, and the labor hours in the three columns.
- Type in the search box to find items by item number, description, manufacturer or catalog number.
- Pick a category, or Active or Discontinued, in the lists at the top of the list.
To try the catalog on a new site, an administrator can run the Estimator sample catalog recipe in Configuration > Recipes. It adds 30 fictional electrical items with prices and labor units.
Add or change an item
- Click Add item, or click the item number of an item.
- Fill in the fields, and click Save. The fields are in cards: Item, Classification, Manufacturer, Purchasing, Notes, Labor and, for a new item, First price.

Labor units
The Labor part of the item gives the hours to install it, in three columns:
| Column | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Normal | Normal working conditions. |
| Difficult | Conditions that slow the work, such as high ceilings or a crowded space. |
| Very difficult | Conditions that slow the work a lot. |
Hours for tells the quantity the hours are for, such as Per hundred (C) for conduit. Labor category, such as Rough-in or Trim, groups the labor in reports. To change the hours, you need the Manage labor units permission.
The hours in the form are those of the Standard labor table. A price file import can add the hours of other tables, such as an imported labor manual; the form shows them below the hours.
Delete an item
Click Delete on the row of the item and confirm. The history of its prices is deleted too.
