Technical Manual

This manual is for developers and IT: the people who install CrestApps Estimator, configure it outside the admin screens, deploy and operate it, and extend it with code.

The User Manual is written for the people who use the app every day: estimators, estimating managers and the administrators who work in the admin screens.

CrestApps Estimator is a set of Orchard Core modules. It uses the CrestApps Orchard Core modules, which are documented at orchardcore.crestapps.com, and the CrestApps Core framework, which is documented at core.crestapps.com.

Early development

CrestApps Estimator is in early development. This manual describes only what the code does today, and it grows with every feature that ships.

Start here

1. Getting Started: build and run the repository, and set up a site with the Estimator recipe.
2. Configuration: the settings the modules read from appsettings.json and environment variables.
3. Feature ID Reference: the feature IDs to enable in Tools > Features, in recipes, or in a [Feature] attribute.
4. Estimating Engine: the deterministic calculation engine.
5. Modules: one page per Estimator module.
6. Release notes: what is new in each version.

Multi-tenancy comes from Orchard Core: every tenant has its own database tables, files, settings and enabled features.
